So, on Saturday mornings we have our group runs. This past Saturday I did 3 miles but, because I've been having some problems with my shins, the coach had made me walk the last .5 or so. Frustrated, she told me it was shin splints and informed me to take the next 3 days and rest it...no running, no walking, no cross-training...only rest, ice, and motrin. Now, a few months from now I might have been excited to have the rest but when you are in the beginning stages of this type of training, you have to stay motivated. Needless to say, I was frustrated...but not deterred!
I followed coach's orders and rested Sunday through Tuesday. But that brings us to tomorrow...back to the pavement. 3 miles to do. My shins have been feeling good so I'm anxious to see how they feel after my run tomorrow. Check back to see how it turns out!
